We previewed some cool new features for ARD 2013 at the recent 2013 Techology presentations across Australia, with a proposed date of release.
We are currently putting the polish on this new release and ensuring that we've captured the bug fixes recently implemented in the current version. Unfortunately we are looking at a late September or early October timeframe.
Some improvements you will enjoy in the new release include:
Automatic plan drafting of your designs, updating as you make edits in the Vertical Grading Editor or add new features such as kerb returns and cul-de-sac strings. See what you're building as you design - especially useful for seeing what is going on with your batters
Automatic Quick Surface creation, updating as any design element is changed. As you edit a Road, all side Roads and kerb returns and cul-de-sacs will update, including rebuilding of the surface. There will be a click button function to push the Quick Surfaces out as full blown Civil 3D Surfaces
A new Model Builder, allowing construction of models from any collection of strings and codes, directly inside the drawing window. Trim strings, cut back codes and add new strings 'live' in the drawing - see and correct all the overlaps as you make changes.
Improved Model Display controls, allowing you to pick which models and strings to display in the drawing. Models will update as the strings are edited by you, updating the plan drafting and the Quick Surfaces.
New driveway vehicle clearance tools. You will be able to
pick polylines representing your driveways and convert them into Driveway strings. Driveways can be set up to match to Road (or any String) cross sections, include user definable layback and then match to a surface at the driveway extents.
Edit Driveways (or any string) in the Vertical Grading Editor and run (user definable) vertical clearance templates across them to confirm vertical clearance controls are met. All vertical clearance clashes will update as you edit the vertical design.
Driveway gradings will automatically update as the referenced road/string is edited - this keeps the Driveway connected to the Road.
