Definium is involved in residential and industrial land developments, highrise units, government infrastructure and pipeline projects.  Definium's directors collectively have on 100 years of dedicated industry expertised and lead a highly experienced and dedicated team that utilise state of the art survey and drafting equipment and related technical software.

Definium uses Autodesk's AutoCAD Civil 3D and software enhancements developed by Civil Survey Solutions to highly automate the process of transferring survey data back to Civil 3D.  This includes the creation of topographical surfaces from the survey data and detailed long section information with all survey pickup features included automatically.

SMEC has utilised Autodesk software for many years in the delivery of projects and recently put the grading tools in AutoCAD Civil 3D to the test, creating a detailed excavation plan for a power station in Africa and testing volume outputs against manual engineering calculations.

Forbes Rigby is a firm of consulting civil engineers in Wollongong, NSW. Most work is undertaken in the local Illawarra region, but assignments have ranged from Sydney to the Victorian border. Anthony Barthelmess works as a design draftsman with the firm, mainly on subdivisions, water and sewers, stormwater drainage and flood studies. He has used AutoCAD Civil 3D since its first release. After attending a demonstration he persuaded Forbes Rigby to purchase a copy of Advanced Road Design, a locally developed add-on for AutoCAD Civil 3D.

The Burnie Port Corporation carries out major dredging programmes in Burnie harbour, on the northwest coast of Tasmania, every five to seven years. To establish the need for this dredging, soundings of the seabed are taken every year. Historically this was done by lining up sounding craft with land-based reference points and recording depths on a very approximate, five-metre grid.

Through an association with CityWide, Connell Wagner provides the majority of the inner-city engineering design work.

The City of Melbourne is Victoria’s commercial, administrative, cultural and recreational hub, with a resident population of over 50,000 and nearly 15,000 businesses. The heart of a metropolis of over three million and hosting nearly a million journeys a day, the City relies on the integrity of its infrastructure to function efficiently.

Rush\Wright Associates is an award-winning design practice, based in Melbourne, that offers consultancy services in landscape architecture, urban design and constructed ecology. The practice introduced AutoCAD Civil 3D into the office in 2008 as its standard drafting software. Initially some time was spent learning the software, including two days of customised training, before it was put to use on a commercial project at the start of 2009.

Capogreco Excavations, a Mildura-based civil construction company, started as an owner-operator outfit in 1992 and now primarily services the water industry, expanding and upgrading infrastructure such as stormwater, sewer, water supply and irrigation channels. Beginning with just a backhoe, the firm now runs plant that includes excavators, backhoe/loaders, wheel loaders, truck-and-trailer combinations and a low loader. Capogreco employee Andrew Ottanelli says there is always demand for its services.

Project: Robinvale Irrigation District pipelines upgrade

Lower Murray Water (LMW) was created by the Victorian state government in 1989 to provide reliable and secure water sources for the region, which lies in the northwest of the state. One area LMW manages is the Robinvale Irrigation System on the Victorian side of the Murray river, some 100km upstream from Mildura. The horticultural district produces mostly table and wine grapes and stone fruit and uses 80km of pipeline to irrigate the farmers’ properties.
